A Miracle sent from Heaven
Mummy says:

Baby Ethan Chong arrived on 24th April 2009 at 2.52PM weighing 2.92kg and 45.3cm long.  Mummy delivered baby Ethan at Pantai Hospital, Bangsar.

This picture was taken at 2 months old.  Baby Ethan has the most charming smile and a set of very keen eyes.  He loves playing with his big teddy bear and Chicco gym set.  A 100% breastfed baby, Ethan is growing everyday at super speed. At 3 months old, baby Ethan weighs 7.4 kg!

"To the whole world you might be just one person, but to one person you might just be the whole world."

That quote from Joseph Campbell captures for me how it feels to be a new mother.  I am literally my baby's whole world.  The greatest challenge for me is learning what it means to care for another person who is completely and totally dependent on me for everything from diaper change, breast milk feeds (10 times a day), cleaning, bathing, burping, comforting - every single day!

At times, the demands of parenting can be overwhelming, yet pure joy just floods my heart when I look into Ethan's eyes and he smiles back and coos.  I'm so overwhelmed that God would entrust me to care for this little miracle of life - to be born and nurtured by me and my hubby. I am truly so overwhelmed by the awesomeness of God!

"You created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb.  I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are monderful, I know that full well."  Psalm 139:13-14

When Ethan turned 1, Daddy says:

Ethan, my son. A father's pride and a mother's joy. Yes, that's what you are to me and your mummy. Praise be to God for having sent you into our lives a year ago. Has it already been a year? And what a wonderful and momentous year it has been!

From the time you were born on April 24th 2009 until today, life has never been the same. It has gotten better and all the more meaningful to have a little bundle of joy to call our own. I thank God for having given us this privilege and honour for caring for you.

Personally, I'm very blessed as a new father because your mum have put in long hours in to care for you night and day. Even at 14 months old, she continues to wake up a few times each night to feed you.

It was like just yesterday that you had your first poo, your first smile, your first crawl, your first tooth, your first illness (chicken pox!) and now, you are starting to take little steps. As for crying, you seem to be a natural from day one ;p Seriously though, you are a cheerful and friendly baby who never fails to bring a smile to people who see you.

Ethan, thank you for being our son. I pray that your mum and I will be able to bring you up in the ways that are right and pleasing to God, to teach and guide you in His ways. May I be the earthly father that our Heavenly Father, God has meant me to be.

To many more wonderful years together...
